Through groundbreaking web technologies & the commercialisation of motion capture libraries, it now is relatively easy for digital modelers to apply animated life to their creations. Those libraries are vast – a few clicks to make a model run, jump, fire a gun, dance or walk. The motion is divided into two categories, Female & Male motion. While mostly done to accommodate gender variations in anatomy, there is, however, some motions which are unique to each gender, these are based on stereotypes. This work looks at two of those motions – the male “swagger” & the “female” walk. They have been used to animate gendered digitally sculpted characters. With one caveat – the motions are not animating their intended genders.
